I signed up with the Network Solutions Pro Ecommerce package for my new webstore and I am in the designing phase, but I have no idea how the wysiwyg tool works. I know that it is suppose to function like Microsoft Word, but I have only used Word for simple letter writing, not designing. I am totally lost. Can anyone explain how to import graphics like photos or point me to a site that has instructions? I would like to design the header and add some photos, but don’t have a clue. Help!
Thanks to all!
Wysiwyg means what you see is what you get.
SO whatever you see on the page you create is what you will get.
Don’t forget to SAVE. and SAVE AS and PUBLISH or you will have to start over.
Read through the Menu Bar at the top and get familiar with the options.
Center the page and choose the Fonts or letters you want to use as well as the colors.
You can play with it a while and get what you want. If you don’t save it you can start over as many times as you want, it won’t hurt a thing.
Use the Insert Option to download Pictures.

http://psd2cssonline.com – In this tutorial we show you how to turn a Photoshop web page design into a functional web page including a button that your viewers can use to purchase goods and services from you. The conversion takes seconds and hooking up the PayPal button only a couple minutes.
Here is the page that was created in the video: http://psd2cssonline.com/tutorials/widgets/index.html
Here is the PSD file used in the video to create that page: http://psd2cssonline.com/tutorials/widgets/widgets_prep.psd
I’d like to mention, even though I keep saying ‘theme’ or ‘template’ throughout the video, it’s just a simple web page – index.html is the only page generated. No software other than your ISPs web server is required to run your online store.

Having given up on attempting to figure out dreamweaver and shopping cart integration, i have decided to just pay someone who knows how to do it.
However, i have no idea how much i should be charged. They are evading the question slightly, and asking ‘how much would you like to spend’, which to be honest is what market sellers do when they think that the customer might suggest an amount higher than the value.
Anyway, i am considering getting them to set me up a basic web shop using ecommerce? I have used this website as a guide for what i want http://www.lunacyboutique.co.uk/tops-c-44.html
I have sent them my layouts and graphics which i created a while ago. All they’d be doing is setting it up. They don’t have to do any design work.
There would be 4 categories and around 50 items to start off with.
Thankyou!
Hi mareasa1
A friend of mine recently had this done at a basic cost of £1500. It is a 5 page site – much simpler than your example.
However, it seems that this is your first attempt at e-commerce trading – good luck, but I think there are two points you need to be aware of, if you are not already familiar with, regarding money.
Most webmasters rely on ‘updates’ for income. A site like the example you gave needs constant updates and changes as stocks and product lines/prices change. Make sure that there is a FIRM agreement of these costs at the outset as they will have the username and password to your site and any changes will HAVE to go through them.
Second, and equally important. Are you aware that the banks will not transfer the monies to you when goods are purchased? They hold the money back for a long time (I’m not sure how long but maybe three months after the sale) so you have to ensure that you have enough funds to cover this cash flow shortage. When you have been established for one year or maybe 6 months it is only after this period that you will get the money immediately when the goods are purchased.
Hi
There are many website design companies, or all shapes and sizes.
There is a growing trendy that even companies using templated designs that they have bought itn or small bedroom run concerns are charging upwards of £1000 for their simplest brochure websites or £2000/£2500 for standard CMS and Ecommerce setups.
Is it the case that you as prospective clients would feel if a web design company charges say from £300 for a static 3 page website, or £500 for a 4 page self editable web presence and Ecommerce from £500 they are in someway not professional. And that it doesn’t quite add up ?
Simply put, do you think a website design company can price itselfs out of the market, by charging to little ?
The question was what do people think is acceptable prices to pay a web designer.
So are you saying that if the company is professional it can charge it wants.
No,
You need to provide two price structures under two different brand names.
A premium brand and a cheap brand – "tesco premium" and "tesco value" compete on the same shelf
Each has a different market.
This will give you an economies of scale as two "businesses" use one office, one PC etc. Reduced costs to cover 2 parts of the market.

Ryan £500 was for a content management based website not a basci brochure webwite, and besides the point was is £2000 plus to much for a CMS not £500, and £1000 to much brochure sites not £300.
Please read the question more carefully.
Thnx
I’m not after a web design quote I’m after peoples oppinions, and experiences.

£500 for a 4 page website, which is the same as a 3 page website with a few more clicks is REDICULOUS. If you know anything about HTML/XHTML w/ CSS, you can build yourself one. Considering they’re just taking an old site they’ve used before and changing the text in it. A short 30 minute process.
I could make you one, xrdennis@hotmail.com. I’d love £500. ☺But seriously. anything more than $200 is a crazy ripoff.

Dear helpers,
I have almost 0 knowledge about web design, web developing and programing. But I would like to learn to build a multimedia ecommerce website with complex database and multimedia functions, such as online audio/vedio conference, interacting, downloading and etc.
Where shall I start to get an overall picture of the project? Which kind of program do I need?
Thank you in advance!
Hire someone. I know that’s not the answer you want but it’s the right answer.
Hi,
I’m interested in feedback and critique of the following shopping site: http://www.charactersinc.com
I’d like to know any thoughts you have about the website – look and feel, design, images, descriptions, ease of navigation, security of the site, etc.
I’m not looking for positive feedback only. Any honest impressions and advice would be appreciated.
Thank you!
AJ
Looks great. Why do you only list clothing, dinnerware, and baby on the right? I don’t think you need this at all. On the left you have a drop down box for categories and you have the characters listed. Be more consistent. Just show Search(Shop) by Category and Search(Shop) by Character. Then let the user click on one of those links and the list of category/character links will be displayed (not a drop down box). Or list the categories just like you listed the characters. You could snazz up the left bar a little with 3D boxes and colors.
