  • Where can I find a website designer for less?

Posted by admin on October 27th, 2009 and filed under Uncategorized | 3 Comments »

My budget is only $100 and I want a website that I can easily update myself (content and pictures).

Where do I look for a website designer?

    Thanks!

For your price level, you may want to consider buying the software yourself and using their preset template – or – working through your host to see if you they have a template – or – simply go to google.

For your price, you will only get a page. If you need an interactive site, you will need to increase your budget.

www.craigslist.org is a worldwide resource. In SF there are a ton of centers and resources for them. What part of the world are you located in?

A last resort would be to simply pay a highschool kid. Most of them know how to do this before they leave gradeschool now.

    Good Luck!

Does anyone know of any web site designers in the Chicago area?

What are some Policies and Procedures examples as a Website Designer ?

Posted by admin on October 25th, 2009 and filed under Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

I’m after a few Policy and Procedure examples if I were to hire a website designer for a business.
    Anyone have any examples ?
    Cheers.

I am the writer and maintenance crew of the policies and procedures for a large retailer with locations in 4 states, over 800 employees. As such, I utilize a intra-website to share information, product knowledge and company designed forms with all levels of employees.
I recommend ToolBox for authoring if you want an "in a box" ready tool for educational purposes as well as BlackBoard which gives tremendous feedback on users with little monitoring once in place.
That being said, for P & P – Most of the time I use MS Word to author the text, using the standard headings of:

2.1 Opening Time (Tab to date) 00/00/2008
    (Text begins left paginate)

2.1.1 Time – Clocking In (Tab to date) 00/00/2008

2.1.2 Time – Correcting Punches (Tab to date) 00/00/2008

    Sections
The building of the main idea and then sections to enhance each idea easily allows deletions and additions.

    Dates
The usage of the dates allows changes within the document with quick reference as the most updated company stance. It is a great resource for legal reference in the event of a court action.

    Spacing
Traditionally, printed versions will allocate a single section to its own page, but for a website I prefer spacing of 4 lines between the statements sections. This reduces need to scroll and, if written correctly with headers, makes reference very quick and handy.

    Index
We use an Index the user can click and access from section title to actual statement instantly.

Our P & P are printable off the screen.

    Forms
These are allocated to their own "chapter" to allow easy access for updating and userbility. Forms are created as Save As capable with eFormat fill-in to protect original formating. They are dated and have REV numbers for easy visual reference.

Although it may seem simple in approach, with the amount of maintenance and updating that occurs with company growth, it has been the most advantageous.

    I also like – Copedia – a good resource.

I am looking for web site designers who would be willing to go to my site and give me a critique.?

Posted by admin on October 25th, 2009 and filed under Uncategorized | 8 Comments »

I am looking for comments & opinions on site design, content, graphics and product relevance. Would it be appropriate for this forum to give out the site address?
The site is www.doityourselfsignpainting.com I am looking for comments on overall site design, content, graphics, your opinion of the product, advice, changes you may feel are needed, etc.

    Hi James,
I’m a graphic designer and seeing your site I have some suggestions to make :
In your home page you need to make the width of the page smaller as not to have the scroller in the bottom of the page. This is how the professionals do it: no scrolling in the bottom, everything needs to be under your client’s eye without making them to scroll right or left.
The other thing is your navigation’s buttons are a little small for the website like this. Try making it bigger and I think changing the color to another would be nice to. And about navigation: besides the navigation in the left side of the page, you need to have the same links in plane text letters in the bottom of every page; this makes it easier for the visitors to "travel through the site.
Other than these I think the background you have is a template; try doing something different and original for the website.
I hope this tips will help you. Let us know what happens.

    Design Coding

Posted by admin on October 24th, 2009 and filed under Uncategorized | 25 Comments »

The Poetic Prophet (AKA The SEO Rapper) is back with another marketing rap. This time he describes how web standards and proper design can affect the ranking and conversion of pages on your site.
lyrics:Your site design is the first thing people see
it should be reflective of you and the industry
easy to look at with a nice navigation
when you can’t find what you want it causes frustration
a clear Call to action to increase the temptation
use appealing graphics they create motivation
    if you have animation
    use with moderation
cause search engines can’t index the information
display the logos of all your associations
highlight your contact info that’s an obligation
create a clean design you can use some decoration
but to try to prevent any client hesitation
every page that they click should provide and explanation
should be easy to understand like having a conversation
when you design the style go ahead and use your imagination
but make sure you use correct color combinations
do some investigation, look at other organizations
but don’t duplicate or you might face a litigation
design done, congratulations but it’s time to start construction
follow these instructions when you move into production
your photoshop functions then slice that design
do your layout with divs make sure that it’s aligned
please don’t use tables even though they work fine
when it come to indexing they give searches a hard time
make it easy for the spiders to crawl what you provide
remove font type, font color and font size
no background colors, keep your coding real neat,
tag your look and feel on a separate style sheet
better results with xml and css
now you making progress, a lil closer to success
describe your doctype so the browser can relate
make sure you do it great or it won’t validate
check in all browsers, I do it directly
gotta make sure that it renders correctly
some use IE, some others use Flock
some use AOL, I use Firefox
title everything including links and images
    don’t use italics, use emphasis
don’t use bold, please use strong
if you use bold that’s old and wrong
when you use CSS, you page will load quicker
client satisfied like they eating on a snicker
they stuck on your page like you made it with a sticker
and then they convert now that’s the real kicker
make you a lil richer, your site a lil slicker
design and code right man I hope you get the picture
what I’m telling you is true man it should be a scripture
if it’s built right you’ll be the pick of the litter
everyone will want to follow you like twitter
competition will get bitter and you’ll shine like glitter
if you trying to grow your company will get bigger
design and code right man can you get with it

Where can i find an affordable website designer in the phoenix area?

Posted by admin on October 24th, 2009 and filed under Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

I am looking for an inexpensive website designer in the phoenix area (phoenix, tempe, chandler, mesa, scottsdale, etc). Can anybody personally refer me to a good one?

I know a company that does web design and I think the prices are affordable especially for small businesses. I don’t think the company is located in Phoenix but the prices are reasonable. Check them out or send them an email.

Does someone know or know where to look for web site designers?

Posted by admin on October 24th, 2009 and filed under Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

I would like the name of this web site designers such as hotmiamistyles.com, greatglam.com and amiclubwear.com please thanks =]

Unfortunately if the designer doesn’t leave his/her name on the site or in the code then its hard to really figure it out. Try running search on it and see if it shows in a web designers portfolio.
