I’ve looked at a lot of remote control applications and many that are web-based that do not require the installation of a server/client charge a monthly fee. I’ve seen various scenarios that people have put together using ReverseVNC, etc. But I’m looking for something very simple – where the client logs into a website or goes to a particular web page from their network – and then I on the outside login to a similar or same website/webpage and gain remote control of their computer… I am not interested in paying monthly fees. I simply want to buy the ActiveX or whatever module/programming is required and move on… I am looking for something that is strictly web-based so please do not offer solutions that involve the installation of client or host software. It’s very surprising to me that no one appears to be giving WebEx a run for their money. Their product model is so simple and yet so many software developers appear to overlook the huge benefits of a web-based solution.
Cisco MeetingPlace competes with it and actually gives you more for your money. MeetingPlace is described as an on-net rich media web conferencing solution, it is designed for enterprise use and offers the features and security to match. MeetingPlace offers all the web conf standard stuff such as presentations, application sharing, desktop sharing, whiteboarding and recording. WebEx uses more of a service-based pricing model, whereas you buy MeetingPlace and in the typical enterprise the ROI is under a year. MeetingPlace has more advanced voice conferencing features like dial in/out with no additional fees, breakout sessions, etc. MeetingPlace also has tight Outlook integration, Webex is weak there.

There seems about a million and one companies who offer web hosting nowadays, and due to my old webhost becoming too rediculously expensive for my non-buisness website, i find myself a bit overwhelmed by the amount of hosting optios available, and want to find myself a good host. that offers a reasonable amount of storage facilitys and a decent selection of web-site programming tools (PHP and MYSQL support a bare minimum)
so does anyone know any websites that offer a goo comprehensive listing of hosts that doesnt look as if they have been given a chunk of cash to praise one server from the high heavens?
My website is more an online CV, tends to contain a lot of self-programmed scripts and programs and various things im working on at any given moment. its more space and extra features im interested in.
I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". ABSTRACT
For most of us who work on the Internet, the Web is all we have ever really known. It’s almost impossible to imagine a world without browsers, URLs and HTTP. But in the years leading up to Tim Berners-Lee’s world-changing invention, a few visionary information scientists were exploring alternative systems that often bore little resemblance to the Web as we know it today. In this presentation, author and information architect Alex Wright will explore the heritage of these almost-forgotten systems in search of promising ideas left by the historical wayside.
The presentation will focus on the pioneering work of Paul Otlet, Vannevar Bush, and Doug Engelbart, forebears of the 1960s and 1970s like Ted Nelson, Andries van Dam, and the Xerox PARC team, and more recent forays like Brown’s Intermedia system. We’ll trace the heritage of these systems and the solutions they suggest to present day Web quandaries, in hopes of finding clues to the future in the recent technological past.

I use a web hosting service at the moment that costs me £25 a year which is to much…i want a new service provider who is cheaper. I need to upload web files to it. can you please tell m a good website that is really cheap but still has a good service ? cheers !
If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months’ time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.
I also live in UK and use following webhosting and I will recommend them as they are excellent.
