  • I was wondering if there was a big need for website designers and computer repairers?

Posted by admin on November 20th, 2009 and filed under website designers | 6 Comments »

I am thinking of getting an Associates in Information Technology and I was just wondering if I was going to be able to get a job.

Website designing – yes! Computer repairs? I’m not too sure because computers are cheap these days thus it may not be worth repairing.

I think computer repair jobs are over inflated much like the Microsoft training jobs and networking, simply due to the fact that major companies like Best Buy can offer a solution at a cheaper price than said ma & pa computer shops can.. As far as web designers, I think this area is also over inflated, but you might be able to find some kind of niche with some company. I havent pursed this myself so I cant say. If worse came to worse, you could try to do contracted jobs over the internet..

Yeah computer repair jobs come a dime a dozen as do web design jobs. If you want to make $ in computers i suggest you learn networking and programming. Those fields are better because ppl still are either intimidated with them or think its to technical.

You probably will, but you will be competing against 17 year olds who can crack the html codes.

Many designers are self taught, and they keep getting younger and younger every year. Now a days, everyone and their grandma can design and fix computers.

But will all jobs, you have to stand out from the competition and it seems like you are unsure of what you want to do.

Ask yourself this, are you only into IT because of job security of because you like it?

If it’s because of job security, I recommend really thinking about switching your major into something you really like.

There’s nothing worse than going to school for an over saturated job thinking you were going for job security and then being unemployed.

If you are into computers, try computer engineer. The computer industry is always looking for the next Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or Larry Ellison.

These both are saturated markets. However, if you are good at what you do, I am sure you will find a decent job.
